Jordan and I first met briefly at a mutual friends Halloween party in 2018. I remember this because he had recently gotten back from a cross country road trip and that caught my attention. But it wasn't until another mutual friend asked me if I would be willing to be set up 6 months later that Jordan's name came up again. After assuring me that Jordan was the real deal and loved the Lord, I agreed. I heard from Jordan for the first time in May of 2019 but I had just started going on dates with someone else so had to turn him down. He responded with so much respect and grace that when he asked again a few months later, I knew I wanted to get to know him more. We met for ice cream for our first date and talked for hours. Since then, we've gotten to see the Lord's hand on our relationship and in so many details.
On 2/9/19 I went on a walk with some friends at a local nature preserve. It was about a ¼ mile down the trail that the topic of my singleness came up. A few of the people in the group mentioned that I should really ask out this girl named Sarah Crabtree. That was the first time I think I had heard her full name. I’d heard about her. She was the leader of a women's bible study that 2 of these friends were attending, so I knew she was the real deal. I was still very hesitant. I’d always wanted to see the character of a person for myself before I dated them. And the whole idea of going on a blind date seemed a little crazy to me. (It wasn’t until after we were dating a while that I found out we’d actually met at that Halloween party all those months before, but hey we were both wearing costumes so she didn't hold that one over me.) I kicked around the idea for several months and it wasn’t until May that I got up the nerve to finally ask her out. Of course I found out that she had started dating someone else. I was disappointed I hadn't asked sooner, but for some reason I was still hopeful that there might be a chance for us down the road. About a month later I found out that things didn’t work out with the other guy. I was still hesitant to ask her out again. I mean she’d already turned me down once after all. It was during that same time that I attended the wedding of some good friends that had been set up on a blind date. After their wedding and seeing how faithful God had been in fulfilling promises in their relationship, I had all the confirmation I needed that it was worth reaching back out to Sarah one more time. She agreed to meet me for ice cream on 7/12/19, and from the first date I was just blown away with how much we had in common and how many ways the Lord was confirming that she was everything I’d ever prayed for in a wife. It has been an incredible journey together in seeing God’s faithfulness revealed in our relationship ever since.
