We met working at CrossTimbers Children's Mission Adventure Camp in the Summer of 2019. Although we worked on different staffs, our friendship truly started with skipping rocks (he knew how to and I didn't so he offered to teach me), and quickly evolved into a way for us to spend more time with each other. We found ourselves spending more of our evenings and off-time with each other and our mutual camp friends as the summer went on.

The evening that camp ended for the summer, I drove home and we agreed that Roy would pick me up around 7. He picked me up right on time; we went to get sushi, skipped rocks at a park, and went to Capitals in OKC to get ice cream. We had so much fun getting to know each other outside of the context of working at camp, and decided pretty quickly into that date that there would be a second one the next day.

At the end of a whole summer being the closest-distance we've ever been (only 4 hours apart instead of 8 whoop!), I went to spend one last weekend with Roy before moving life back up to Oklahoma for the school year. We had gotten dressed up to go to dinner, and after dinner Roy suggested we go on a drive. After driving around for a little bit he "had an idea" to go watch the sunset at a spot along the river. When we reached the spot, we started looking for rocks to skip (see story above). After skipping rocks for a bit, Roy pulled me away from the water and got down on one knee. While I was at a loss for most words, "yes" was not one of them! We're beyond thrilled to celebrate the Lord's faithfulness to us as we walk into this next step in our lives together. We can't wait to see you in May!
