Earlier that day, Paul had realized that he’d scheduled a date during Game 7 of the World Series, but as soon as he met Jordan, missing the game didn’t seem so bad. “I was pumped, she was perfect,” he remembers. Being that it was Game 7—and that this bar didn’t have a single TV—Paul and Jordan were the only two patrons all night, though they wouldn’t have noticed anyone else anyway. Three hours flew by, and the night ended with a victory in the books for Jordan, Paul, and the Chicago Cubs. A truly wonderful year and a half later, Paul and Jordan were getting ready to head to Scotland for the Edinburgh International Film Festival. While Jordan was finishing some last-minute packing, she got a surprise visit from her mom and best friend who had come to do some shopping and invited her to join them for dinner. She thanked them for the offer, but insisted she had too much to do. After much back and forth with her mom and best friend, Paul took the situation into his own hands. “Jordan, I’m sending a car to pick you up. Get dressed. It will be there in 20 minutes.” Beginning to suspect why everyone was being so insistent, Jordan got into the car when it arrived, complete with an iPad as “entertainment for the drive”—a slideshow Paul had made with screenshots of their Bumble profiles and messages he had saved from the very beginning and photos and videos from all the best, funniest, and most quintessentially “them” moments since they met. To top it off, the world’s sweetest slideshow was perfectly timed with the ride to the very bar where Jordan and Paul had their first date.
