How We Met

When PB found his J

From Jordan: Unlike Parker, I don't remember the exact moment that we met. Parker would tell you it's because he loves me more, but in reality, it's because my early memories of Parker are stored as feelings instead of moments. I may not remember exactly where we were or what he was wearing, but what I do remember is how it felt getting to know him. We spent a summer working at the pool together, and for a girl who at the time, suffered from a cold heart and an apathetic outlook, I clearly remember feeling laughter and joy - a lightness of meeting a soul whose humor so easily aligned with my own. Whether he was singing Lion King while cleaning the bathrooms or acting as a target for a passing bird, my early memories of Parker were those of laughter and joy. Luckily, he hasn't lost his humor or his passion for making me laugh. From Parker: Alright, so this girl gets out of the pool at a swim practice that I happened to be at in high school. She had been destroying everyone in a game of water polo while wearing one of those nerdy swim caps. At the end of the game, she took her hand, grabbed one side of the cap and (in slow motion, I swear) pulled it off in one swift motion. All of this golden-blonde hair came flying out in a flurry. I was immediately stricken with her beauty. That was 2009. Fast forward to New Year's Eve 2013. We were both home from college for the holidays, and we were at the Zemmin's house for a party. I came across Bram Stoker's "Dracula" sitting on the kitchen counter and immediately, I wanted to know who was reading it as I also have a love for classic books. Lo and behold, it was the flaxen-haired beauty, Jordan Brianna Zemmin. We bonded during that party and came home again the following summer. We began dating on the 1st of July. Never have I encountered a soul so beautiful, unique and kind as the one that resides in my soon-to-be wife. The warmth and comfort that I find in my best friend is unlike anything that I have ever experienced.

How He Proposed

Heated jacket, projector and all

Parker is a performer by trade, and on December 16, 2017, he planned an amazing show - just for me. It was a rare weekend with the whole Zemmin clan in town. Like we always do when we reunite, we filled our days hiking, playing cards and Catan, and enjoying time together as a family. On Saturday afternoon, worn out from our weekend of merriment, I laid down for a long nap (you're welcome for making it easy, Parker). When I woke up, both Parker and my little sister weren't home. My mom explained that they went to the store and asked me to shower for dinner. When I came back downstairs, my older sister handed me my phone. Parker was on the line. After assuring me that everything was okay, Parker gave me instructions to put on the heated jacket in my car (nice planning!) and to navigate to the location he sent me. I knew at that moment what was happening. When I drove up behind his car, I stepped out to a pitch-black field. The only light, a warm and inviting light, emanated from the top of a hill. Only 90% sure this was right, and 10% worried that I was trespassing, I walked to the top of the hill. When I got there, the tears started on their own. In front of me, there was a couch on a rug, a projector, a screen framed by white lights and a note that told me to press play. It was beautiful. For once, I did as I was told. A video played that took me through our three and a half years together. It took me through moments of laughter, love, struggle, determination and the purest partnership I have ever known. When the video ended, I was instructed to read a letter hidden under the couch out loud. Bon Iver played while I read the letter through broken (happy) sobs. When I was done reading the letter, Parker FINALLY came out from behind the screen. I made him hug me before he got down on one knee. With amazing emotion, he asked me to be his wife and showed me a perfect diamond ring. Getting engaged to my best friend was the most magical moment of my life.
