The Day: Christmas Eve Eve 2017 The Place: Downtown Chicago After spending the afternoon at a Martin Family Christmas Party, Jordan took Meg to Chicago for their annual "Christmas in Chicago" celebration. Meg had a feeling something was going on: Jordan had a professional hair cut and was wearing new shoes. Jordan planned for them to go see Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo so he could propose by the Christmas tree. These plans unbeknownst to Meg, she said she wanted to visit Christkindlmarket, as per tradition. With only enough time to go to one, Jordan changed his plans to accommodate Meg's wishes, thinking the giant tree located there would still work well for his proposal. When they arrived, Jordan realized the tree is no longer located at Christkindlmarket and started to internally freak out a bit. In the meantime, Meg kept thinking Jordan might propose soon, and yet, he didn't. After Christkindlmarket, they went to dinner at Prime and Provisions, a fancy steakhouse in the heart of downtown. Meg thought: this must be the place! They enjoyed a wonderful appetizer, a delicious rare steak, and good wine. And then they left! No proposal. They returned to Hotel EMC2. Changed into their pajamas. At this point, Meg gave up all hope of a wedding proposal that day. Meg was sitting on the bed and looking at her phone, when Jordan jump-dived onto the bed next to her. As he told her how much he loves her, he began to pull his great-grandmother's engagement ring out of his pj pants' pocket. He opened the box as he asked Meg to spend the rest of their lives together. Meg answered: “Is this a joke?!" Meg was staring at the empty box in Jordan's hand. Jordan's face scrunched up in confusion as he looked into the ring box. Then, panic! Thankfully it was a short search, as the ring had conveniently fallen out in Jordan's pocket! Once Meg realized that Jordan had finally proposed and that he had actually meant it (since there was really a ring), she said YES!
