The story of Jordan and I began at Ohio University with Jordan, newly embarking on his medical school journey, and I was completing the final stretch of my bachelor’s degree. We found ourselves in the same lecture hall for human physiology and in the same apartment building as Jordan lived across the hall from one of my best friends from high school. It was in this apartment building’s study room that Jordan and I had our very first conversation. I offered Jordan a unique mnemonic to remember the cranial nerves, however, his response caught me off guard. He said, “you’re weird”. Confused by his reaction, I shrugged this interaction off and assumed he was very much not weird, just boring, and a nerd. Despite this initial encounter, Jordan always seemed to be around myself and my friends. One night, as my friends and I were getting ready for a night out, Jordan came by the apartment so I invited him out with us. He declined, however, I told him we would be leaving soon and that he might as well just join us. He agreed and from that moment on, our friendship blossomed. We quickly became the best of friends and on February 14th, 2017 Jordan asked me to be his girlfriend. Fast forward to December 3rd, 2022 Jordan got down on one knee in front of family, and friends in Puerto Rico and proposed. I am so thankful for cranial nerves and Rivergate apartments for leading me to my future husband.
