SHE SAID YES!

Durham, NC 2013 - They had just graduated high school. It was one summer night that Jordan and La Nita's lives would change forever. Jordan would lay eyes on the love of his life for the first time. "The moment I saw her I knew she had to be mine. I had never seen anything like her in Durham before. So I knew she wasn't from here. She was the most beautiful girl I ever saw." When Jordan approached La Nita, her first reaction was "He's cute!:) I noticed his swag and smooth demeanor. There was just something about him. I knew he was different." From that day to the end of the summer, Jordan and La Nita spent every moment they could together. They fell in love. They became each other's high school sweethearts before both leaving Durham to attend their beloved HBCU's. It was a summer of blissful young love.

Have you ever felt something was for you but you could not reach it, touch it, obtain it? Sometimes the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Jordan and La Nita always carried each other's heart in their own hearts -- even while at their colleges. After five years of distance, Jordan and La Nita reconnected. Those same butterflies showed themselves again but this time even stronger than ever. For the next two years, Jordan and La Nita grew a friendship, a bond, and expressed their desire to be together one day. But the distance between them (Louisiana - Grambling State University to North Carolina - A&T State University) made their desire seem like a pipe dream.

"I never believed in unconditional love until I met La Nita." - Jordan "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" - [Hebrews 11:1] While dating long distance, Jordan and La Nita made sure they regularly prayed together, read the Bible and devotionals together, talked about God and their faith together and with each other. With God at the center of their relationship, they created a spiritual Ecclesiastes 4:12 bond. God was working on their hearts individually as they were away from each other. But He was doing a new thing with them together. Jordan and La Nita both were growing in their walks with God. In La Nita's quiet times, God began to reveal to her the woman she would become. She became a mother. And shortly after, she began writing letters and prayers to her future husband as God revealed to her she would be a wife. At the same time, while leading Bible studies and evangelizing, Jordan also began to hear from God. God began to reveal to him who his wife would be. When instructed by The Lord, Jordan stepped out on faith. "When God tells you to move, you move, it takes faith to take that first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. But you never know where your faith will lead you." Jordan trusted what God had shown him; that La Nita would be his wife. Through godly counsel, virtual dates, prayer, and adventure, God kept Jordan and La Nita because they remained in Jesus. Jordan eventually moved closer to La Nita. And December 29th, 2021, he asked the love of his life for her hand in marriage. AND SHE SAID YES! "Now three things will last forever --- faith, hope, and love -- and the greatest of these is love" - [1 Corinthians 13:13]
