(Gay) Pride and Prejudice

Alternatively: The gay version of How Harry Met Sally

Jordan and Jess met in February of 2017 at an AWARE Tulsa meeting. There are two different versions of this story. In the first, Jess arrived at the YWCA and saw a girl in a maroon sweatshirt proudly proclaiming 'The Future is Female' with painted nails to match. They asked if they could sit next to her and fell in to an easy conversation almost immediately. The girl somehow ended up in their small group when the meeting broke apart, and they shared a great conversation. Conveniently, Jess was already planning to attend the volunteer training after, and left the AWARE Tulsa meeting right after the girl! In the second version of the story, a clearly badass lesbian sat next to Jordan at the meeting. Jordan (definitely on purpose) followed this cool person to their small group. The conversation was easy; they agreed on almost every topic. And then, when Jordan had to leave for another volunteer training, Jess appeared almost out of thin air (almost like they were following her!) to go to the same place. At the volunteer training, Jordan complimented Jess's bumper sticker. Jess, luckily, had another one just like it in their car! But Jordan would have to wait until after the training to get it. At the close of the meeting, Jess made good on their promise and gave Jordan a Hillary Clinton bumper sticker. Jordan asked for Jess's number and suggested that they should get together sometime. Jess, living in Stillwater, had to think fast. They immediately rescheduled a haircut to be in town on Jordan's only day off the following week and had the most awkward first date in history at Elote in downtown Tulsa. Jess was quick to rectify that; they took Jordan on their first "official" first date a week later (with a bouquet of cilantro in hand) to Dilly Diner and then the downtown Tulsa art crawl. And the rest, as they say, is history.
