Liberia International Airport Guanacaste is about 45 miles (1hr 15min) from Tamarindo. From Arizona, Southwest and American Airlines typically have the best flights.

Tamarindo Diria
Diria Hotel is located in the center of Tamarindo, this is our most recommended place to stay. It is a short walk to all the restaurants and shops. It's in the busiest part of the town and beach. We would recommend the ocean front rooms (some have been updated, all have incredible views)!

The Coast Beachfront Hotel
The Coast Beachfront is located on the beach just outside the center of Tamarindo. It is about a 10 minute walk to town. It is on our favorite part of the beach and is more quiet.

Capitán Suizo Beachfront Boutique Hotel
Capitán Suizo is a boutique hotel with beautiful rooms and grounds. It is located just outside the center of town and is a quiet place to enjoy the beach and wildlife. Town is a short 5-10 minute walk on the beach or 5 minute drive.

Wyndham Tamarindo
The Wyndham is one of the newer hotels in Tamarindo. It is located at the top of the hill overlooking Tamarindo Beach. It has a great pool and complementary shuttle to/from town. All rooms have an incredible ocean view. One negative is the bathrooms are very small (not much room to get ready) and driving to town is down a very steep hill.

We typically rent condos when we go to Tamarindo. It can be hard to determine where the condominiums are based on the listings so if you have questions about a specific rental, feel free to reach out to us! Here are a few condominium complexes we recommend: - Diria Matapalo Condominiums also called El Diria (these are located right behind Diria Hotel) - Sunrise Condominiums (located next to Diria, walking distance to town) - Bocaraca (located right in town, walking distance to all the restaurants) - Ibis Condominiums (these are located closer to Langosta Beach in a quiet part of town and a 10-15 minute walk to the center of Tamarindo, they are across the street from the beach and come with access to Langosta Beach Club)
Rental Car
SIXT Rent a Car Liberia (Costa Rica) Airport
Depending on how long you are staying and what you want to see renting a car can be a great option for flexibility. If you are renting a car we recommend going with Sixt. They have a shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes and will pick you up at the airport and drive you 5-7 minutes to the car rental.
