Eric and I first met back in June of 2019. At that time, he was living in Texas and only in town for a few days. Our mutual friend, Alex, introduced us in passing and we then went our separate ways. Low and behold 8 months later, I received a friend request on Facebook from Eric. Thinking he was some stranger, I proceeded to ignore the request for months, until one day I picked Alex up from a job site Eric was working at. As I questioned Alex who his friend was, it dawned on me that this was the same guy I ignored all these months. Whoops… Needless to say, I went home and finally accepted that friend request. By this time, Covid was in the midst of its worst, causing Eric to relocate back to Rockford for longer than he intended. The poor guy didn't know it would be for a lot longer once he started dating me.
Fast forward a year, Eric arranged for some of our friends to take us out on their boat. Little did I know, he was planning to propose on the Rock River in the same place we made our relationship “official.” Upon docking the boat, Eric insisted on us taking a picture for our 1 year and it was then that I knew something was up (he hates taking pics!) As he pulled me aside to talk, he proceeded to wish me a happy anniversary and I quickly noticed all of our friends staring. Nervous for what was about to come, I blurted out, “Happy Birthday,” rather than “Happy Anniversary,” in true awkward Jordan fashion. Eventually, I said, "yes." ;-)
