We met in highschool, all the way back in 2019. ( I know what you're thinking.. it's about time! I know we get that A LOT) We actually met through a mutual friend and we sat at a lunch table together. We swapped numbers and talked non stop for three days. After the third day, we finally went out on a date, on the coldest day of the year actually. After one date, Jordan asked me to be his girlfriend and it's been history ever since.
There’s some backstory to this story. In the summer of 2024, Jordan was away in California for Army training for three and a half weeks. Because they were doing war simulations, Emma wasn’t able to have contact with Jordan for most of that time. When Jordan was on his way home, he texted his boss to ask for the weekend off because he wanted to propose to Emma. Well… Jordan accidentally sent that text to Emma instead — and she freaked out. Realizing his mistake, Jordan quickly told her it was just an excuse to get the weekend off so he could spend time with her right after coming home. And Emma totally bought it — because, well, she’s that gullible. About a week after Jordan returned, he mentioned wanting to go out of town for a weekend since he had ended up working the weekend he got back. Jordan and Emma had gone to Door County for Emma’s birthday in April and had been wanting to go back in the summer — so they did. On August 17th, Jordan and Emma spent the day exploring Door County and its charming small towns. That evening, Jordan took Emma to a fancy Italian restaurant for dinner. Afterward, he told her he wanted to watch the sunset. They headed to a park where the sun was just beginning to set. They walked out onto a pier overlooking Lake Michigan, the sky painted in pinks and purples. Jordan gently grabbed Emma, turned her around, and said, “Remember how I told you that wanting to propose was just an excuse to get off work? Well… it wasn’t.” Then he got down on one knee and asked Emma to marry him. She, of course, said yes.
Our anniversary falls on January 30th, but with Wisconsin’s winters being so unpredictable, we decided a spring wedding would be the perfect choice. Wanting to keep a special connection to our original date, we chose to celebrate on the 30th of the month—and as fate would have it, May 30th landed on a Saturday, making it the perfect day to say "I do!"
Our wedding colors are lavender purple, sage green, and cream—a palette we fell in love with, but one that also holds a deeper meaning. Purple represents Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system, and one that Emma has lived with her entire life. By incorporating this color, we honor her journey and raise awareness for a cause close to our hearts. Emma's bridesmaids will be wearing lavender purple, symbolizing strength, awareness, and hope.
