Rockland Ferry Terminal

Getting to Vinalhaven is a bit of an adventure that has its final leg of travel on the Vinalhaven Ferry. This boat ride is about an hour and 15 minutes with beautiful views from the water. Guests should check the ferry schedule and purchase car tickets in advance, and please call the ferry terminal with questions about when to arrive for a car ferry, which line to get in and any other questions that may pop up when planning your travel. *Please note that the ferry can run late on Monday and Friday due to refueling, as noted on their website. Boat times are: 7 AM 8:45 AM 10:30 AM 1 PM 2:45 PM 4:30 PM *If you would like to arrange a reservation to get your car on/off of the island please call a month in advance, when Maine DOT opens to make a reservation. ** All non-reserved vehicles and trucks leaving Vinalhaven are required to have a LINE NUMBER. The number for the Vinalhaven Terminal is (207) 596-5450

Taxi Information

Any guest who is flying in to Portland who needs a taxi up to the Rockland Ferry Terminal, I suggest Mid-Coast Limo. They will pick you up at the airport and drop you off right at the ferry terminal. You can also make arrangements for them to pick you up at the Ferry to go back to Portland, Maine.

Getting around the island can be a little daunting especially if you've never been there before AND you find out you don't have cell service! Attached is a map of the island for all our guests. Please let us know if you are walking on the boat so we can arrange to have you greeted when you arrive on Vinalhaven!
