For our out-of-town friends and family who haven't had the pleasure, the Beartooth Highway is a 68-mile scenic drive along U.S. Highway 212, connecting Red Lodge, Montana, to Cooke City, Montana, near Yellowstone National Park. Known for its dramatic alpine scenery, it climbs to 10,947 feet at Beartooth Pass, offering breathtaking views of rugged peaks, glaciers, and alpine meadows. The Pass is open seasonally from late spring to early fall due to heavy snowfall, and is celebrated as one of America’s most spectacular drives, with winding roads, switchbacks, and opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography. If you're travelling to Red Lodge from the south, you must take the opportunity to experience this majestic country.
Watch pigs race. Bet on the winning pig. Cheap beer. Need we say more?
A convenient 30 minute drive from Red Lodge... prepare to get splashed!
Red Lodge is home to some of Montana's most scenic hiking trails, with varying lengths and difficulties. If you are looking for any suggestions, Sylvan Peak in Red Lodge is always happy to help... or ask Daniel's brother - he knows these mountains like the back of his hand! Our personal favorite is the Lake Fork Trail System - largely because that's where we got engaged!
Authentic Italian cuisine and one of our favorite places for dinner!
