Things To Do

Between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels, there are tons of recreational options. Here are a few of our favorites, and some highly recommended spots.
Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels

Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels

400 North Liberty Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130
, (830) 625-2351

At the center of Schlitterbahn there are miles of rivers. The waterpark started on the banks of the Comal River. Tube chutes, rides, tube slides, and pools use spring fed river water that always stays a cool 72 degrees and flows right back into the river. Ride our famous black tubes for hours in the Original Section featuring the iconic castle. Have a family picnic* at one of the shaded picnic tables found all around the park. Of course rivers are only the beginning. Only a short tram ride away within the Blastenhoff and Surfenburg sections, visitors to New Braunfels can ride a continuous wave on the Boogie Bahn, fly high on the Sky Coaster, tube on the Torrent wave river, and get rocketed uphill on the Master Blaster Water Coaster.

Nestled between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake, is Gruene, part of the National Register of historic places. Even with the remarkable growth of the surrounding area, the main focus of Gruene was, and continues to be, bona fide Texas. Everything from the wares they sell to the music they play speaks to preserving the authenticity of Gruene and providing its guests with an experience that has the signature seal of the Lone Star State.

Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar

Now, we haven't been here ourselves, as Jordan can't handle spice, but we have heard nothing but good things. The food is rumored to be delicious and its a laid back BYOB establishment. If you are looking for some great Louisiana cooking, check it out.
