FAQs

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

It will be a little chilly towards the end of the day, but a beautiful spring morning. Hopefully, no rain!

Question

What should I wear? What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal/cocktail attire. Ladies should wear cocktail dresses, and the gentlemen should wear a suit and tie or a sports coat. Military guests (active or retired) may wear their uniforms or traditional formal attire. Class-A or Service dress uniform is optional as well.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend that you arrive an hour before the start of the ceremony, to make sure everyone is on time and we can get the party started as scheduled!

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

Our wedding website here gives you more information about hotels. We have rooms blocked at Hampton Inn & Suites Baltimore/Aberdeen and Hilton Garden Inn Aberdeen, but you are more than welcome to stay anywhere you would like. Please review the "Places to Stay" tab for more information. There, you can access the direct link to book within our reserved blocks at our special discounted rates. You can review the differing block times for each hotel as well as check in and out times.

Question

Will transportation be provided between to/from the hotel?

Answer

Transportation will not be provided.

Question

Where should guests park? Is parking free?

Answer

Once you arrive to the venue, you will drive past the barn on your left and head straight down to wrap around the smaller barn on the right at the bottom of the hill. The parking lot will be here. Additional guests can be dropped off right at the entrance of the ceremony while the driver goes to park if needed. Parking is free.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.

Question

Where are the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception taking place?

Answer

The ceremony will be on the top floor of the barn. The cocktail hour is right below where the ceremony will be and the reception is also on the first floor in the long part of the barn. Stairs or a walk around the building will get you to the first floor. After the ceremony, you’ll be directed downstairs.

Question

Where can I find the bathroom?

Answer

A men’s and women’s bathroom will be located right outside the ceremony on the top floor.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The venue will be indoor/outdoor, but mostly under the roof inside the building. You are more than welcome to enjoy the outside patio at the cocktail hour behind the building as well.

Question

Can I take pictures at the ceremony?

Answer

No. This is an unplugged ceremony. We want to be present with you on our special day and let the photographer do the photo taking. That’s why we ask you to please keep your phones and cameras turned off during the ceremony. We will happily share the photos that are captured today with you. This will be strongly enforced!

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

Guests will be directed downstairs to the cocktail hour where an assortment of appetizers will be served. Guests will also have access to the full bar! The bride and groom and bridal party will be taking pictures nearby for about an hour.

Question

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

Answer

Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures on to their social media channels, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag #makingittomeyer so we can keep track of all of your pictures!

Question

May I take a centerpiece/candle/flowers home as a souvenir?

Answer

Absolutely! There will also be other souvenirs and party favors to be going home with you that day as well!

Question

Can I leave my car overnight?

Answer

Yes, but make sure to come back early the next morning for retrieval!

Question

When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?

Answer

You have the option to send back the RSVP making sure full names are written as well as a “will attend” or “will not attend” checked off, or you can scan the QR code on the back of the RSVP postcard which will take you to an RSVP website. Once at the website, you can type in your full name and follow the rest of the prompts.

What should I do if I can’t make it?

Answer

You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
