The ranch, officially named the Chief Joseph Ranch, is located in Darby, MT, approximately 60 miles south of Missoula. It's a working ranch, and parts of the property are private. Visitors are welcome to view the entrance and main gate for photos, but access beyond this point requires prior arrangements.
Traveling to Yellowstone National Park in mid-October can be an amazing experience with fewer crowds, stunning fall colors, and potential wildlife sightings. However, it requires some preparation due to the changing weather and limited services. It is a little over 5 hours from Missoula. Everything is a long drive in Montana, but it's worth seeing!
