His Version: What started out as a simple guy's weekend in Florida ended up changing my life for the better. Todd, Ish, myself and my dad decided to get away for a long weekend on Aug 5, 2021. While waiting in the airport, we decided to get an airport beer which is where we laid eyes on a group of women wearing shirts with Bridesmaids quotes on them. I vividly remember Todd saying "Oh look, there’s a bachelorette party." About 20 mins went by and a few of the women come up to the bar to get a round of drinks. Being the gentleman I am, I told them they could squeeze in by me and got the bartender's attention. We started talking and realized we were on the same flight. Since Southwest has open seating, our groups decided to sit by each other on the plane which resulted in a few noise complaints from some grumpy passengers sitting in front of us. When we landed in FL, we immediately met my dad in the airport for a beer and he bought everyone a round. I hate to admit it, but Gary may have been the one to seal the deal! I truly never thought I would see any of them again after the airport. Fast forward about an hour and we are heading to lunch at my favorite beach side restaurant, Doc’s, and who do we run into, some of the ladies from the Airport! It was at that moment our groups became one. We had an amazing weekend together in Florida, but neither Sadie or I had any idea we would end up together. Once back in Indiana, I wouldn’t see Sadie again until I crashed Tara’s wedding in Sept (it was her bachelorette party that lead them to FL). A few weeks later we ended up being in South Bend for the same ND game, and that’s when Sadie and I actually got to talk to each other on a one on one basis. Fast forward to Halloween, I get an invite to Sadie’s family's annual party. I knew I had to make an impression so in true Jordan style, I dressed up as Black Jesus. It was that night I got to see how awesome Sadie is and truly fell in love with the woman she is. While some of her friends noticed I was staring, I still didn’t make a move and ask her out. By December, our friend groups were planning a bar crawl which ended up being the night Sadie made a move and kissed me. We then spent the entire New Years weekend together and have been inseparable ever since. Her Version: I was headed to Florida for one of my Matron of Honors, Tara's, bachelorette party. We started our trip with taking pics and grabbing beers in the airport before our flight. Some of the other ladies started talking to Jordan and his buddy, Todd, while they were at the bar placing an order. We all ended up being on the same Southwest flight, but at that point I didn't really have much interaction with the guys like some of the other ladies did. We landed and met Jordan's dad for a beer before heading on our way (don't tell Jordan, but Gary buying us the tall beers totally sealed the deal!). Us girls split up that afternoon so some of us could decorate the house we were staying at (shoutout to my bridesmaid Katie for letting us stay at her parent's house!) while the others went to the beach, so I did not spend much time with Jordan and the guys that weekend, and when I did see them the next day, I did not talk to them much. I then saw him again when he and Todd crashed Tara's wedding a month later. I was totally in shock that they showed up. I genuinely never thought we would see them again after FL. We then ended up being at the same ND game a few weeks later, and this is when I finally had a real conversation with Jordan, and ended up meeting his mom as well while they were tailgating before the game. A few weeks after that, still not thinking I would ever see him again, my sister-in-law, Chelsea, invited him to my mom's house for our Halloween party. He showed up as Black Jesus and my mom loved that! My friends noticed that night how he was looking at me, but I still brushed it off until we saw each other again in December for a bar crawl where I made the first move!
His Version: I knew it had to happen on my family's vacation to Italy. With the help of my mom, we were able to plan it during a tour of a vineyard on the countryside in Montepulciano. I was a nervous wreck driving up to the vineyard from the villa we were staying in, but tried to stay as calm as possible to not tip Sadie off. After the tour was over, the tour guide went inside to get our room ready for lunch. It was at that time Sadie and I went for a walk down the hill by the vines while my family stayed up to watch me propose. I proceeded to get down on one knee and ask Sadie to marry me. Despite my anxiety and nervousness the whole morning she really had no idea it was coming because she started walked away thinking I was tying my shoe. After a brief inner panic attack thinking she was going to say no, she realized what was going on. She stuck out her hand and from that moment on July 4th 2022 our lives will forever be connected. Her Version: I was ecstatic to take a trip of a lifetime to Italy with Jordan's family. Little did I know just how amazing the trip would actually be. While we were in the car on our way to the winery in Montepulciano, I noticed that Jordan was not doing well, but I thought he was just car sick since we were on curvy roads going up and down hills. Not to mention it was around 100 degrees outside! When we got to the winery, we started with a really awesome tour where we got to see the cellar, and learn the history of the winery and the fermentation process. After the tour, we were left to explore the acres of vines while our guide prepared our lunch. I was so caught up in seeing the views ang capturing photos that I had no idea that Jordan was proposing when he started to get down on one knee. I even gave him a weird look and turned around to get another glance of the view! He then said my name and when I turned back around, it clicked what was actually happening. I stuck out my hand for him to put on the ring and as he was putting it on, I quickly realized I gave him the wrong hand, lol! I said yes and the rest is history. Looking back, I remember thinking how weird it was that no one else was walking down to the vines with us to take pictures. It was truly a fairytale moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life with him!
