From the start, we knew we would spend the rest of our lives together so we both began planning our individual proposals. In September 2025, Emily booked a flight for Jordan to join her on a “work trip” to Puerto Rico. We checked in to the Ritz Carlton Resort at Dorado Beach which Emily played off as a surprise stay over the weekend before it was time for her to report to the work site that week. Little did Jordan know, there was no work trip at all and their entire reason for being there was for Emily to propose. Emily even brought an entire suitcase of work clothes just to sell the “work trip” story. Emily had an elaborate plan for the proposal that she had practiced over and over for weeks. The plan was to distract Jordan with pictures taken of their trip on Emily’s phone (where Jordan would encounter pictures of her engagement ring) while simultaneously and gracefully whipping out a hidden tripod and extra cellphone borrowed from a friend to capture the moment of Emily getting down on one knee. But in the moment Emily realized she’d not accounted for things like being nervous, not being familiar with the location, and the rain and humidity. Ultimately when the moment arrived, Emily ditched the elaborate plan (and the tripod), propped up a phone, and just went for it in the garden at the resort in front of the huge Banyan tree (that has importance later on). As soon as Emily finally began to pop the question, a rain drop must have hit the phone that was supposed to be recording and it stopped the video. We still laugh about how it all unfolded, the video cutting off mid proposal, and how nervous Emily was about trying to not give the secret away too early! But while not everything in life gets captured in video, the entire experience is something we will never forget for the rest of our lives. Fast forward to November, Emily and Jordan left for a trip out west for Jordan’s birthday that had been in the plans for some time. Little did Emily know, Jordan had special plans for Moab, UT to propose. The Arches National Park was on our bucket lists so Emily was excited we would finally get to explore it together for the first time. After doing a lot of research together about the different Arches at the park, Jordan knew Delicate Arch was THE spot. It was a 3-mile hike there and back and was rated a 7/10 on the difficulty scale. So there we went, us and that trusted tripod (not used in Puerto Rico but heavily used in Moab), and the ring tucked away and nicely secured in the only place a girl has on a hike, her bra. We made it to our destination, the Delicate Arch, and it was absolutely surreal. Finally it was our turn under the arch and Jordan’s heart was pumping out of her chest as she realized there was a bit of a crowd. Emily set up the tripod and pushed start on the video, making sure it started this time and ran to Jordan waiting under the middle of Delicate Arch. We posed for a picture and then Jordan, very sweaty both from nerves and the long hike, got down on one knee. The crowd erupted with applause and audible gasps. Needless to say, we got extra time in the middle of the arch as the cheers continued and echos of congratulations rang through the mountains. A moment we will never forget, or those fellow hikers. Both proposals, unique to us as individuals, were carefully crafted to perfection. As mentioned before, the Banyan tree has a significance that we later learned about after returning home from Puerto Rico. We found out that some of our favorite celebrities, Megan Fox and MGK, had their proposal in the exact same spot as we did, near the Banyan tree! This was a pretty neat coincidence for Jordan because her and Megan share the same thumbs. And if you know, you know. Both Puerto Rico and Moab will now always hold a special place in our hearts. We can’t wait to go back and make new memories while holding on to the old ones.
