The Lousia County Fair will always hold a special place in my heart. Back in 2007, the fair dances were a pretty popular place to be during fair week. The first two nights were so much fun, so I decided to go back again for the third night. I was getting ready to leave when this goofy looking guy asked me if he could have my phone number. I was flattered an older guy was asking so I gave it to him. The next day, I had a phone call, it was from Jordan. Soon, Jordan was calling my house every night and we would talk for HOURS. We eventually made it official and I had my first "real" boyfriend (this wasn't elementary puppy love). Coming up on one year together, we split up. We went on with our lives, he graduated high school and studied to be a mechanic, I graduated and began my adventure at Iowa State. In January 2013, I was on my way home for a long weekend. I received a text from Jordan. I hadn't had texting for very long at this point and I definitely hadn't talked to him. I texted him back letting him know that he sent his message to the wrong person (come to find out later, he meant to text me but wanted it to look like an accident). From that point on we picked up right where we left off and talked every day, all day. We made it official again in April. I finished my last 2.5 years at Iowa State and he visited me when we could. I was beyond excited when I landed a teaching job back in SE Iowa so that we could be close again! In 2017, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Adeline Jean into the world and became a family of 3. Jordan and I are beaming with excitement to continue writing our story as husband and wife for all the years to come.
As many know, Jordan and I have been together for 6.5 years! During this time Jordan has received quite a bit of harassment from myself and his family on when he was going to marry me. Jordan is very stubborn and when he is told to do something it makes him not want to do it at all. I finally learned to stop bugging him and let him do it when he's ready. In January 2017, I found out I was pregnant and we soon found out our lives were going to change. A wedding didn't seem as important now, but Jordan assured me that we would get married some day. The beginning of that someday was August 2, 2019. On Wednesday of that week, I was gone to a Brooks & Dunn concert with a friend. Jordan had driven to my parents house to ask them for their blessing to marry me. After he gave him a hard time, my dad gave him his blessing and Jordan finally felt relaxed until he had to ask the big question, but Jordan had somewhat of an idea of how to do it. I had spent the day cleaning the house while Adeline was gone. I sit down to watch tv and out comes Jordan from the bedroom. He came over to me, got down on one knee, and said "Abbey, will you marry me?" I didn't hesitate to say yes! Our families were all so excited when they got the news, and Adeline is pretty thrilled she gets to be a flower girl!
