at last, love came along

Wunedel was born in Immokalee, Florida, the fourth of five children. Growing up, she was inspired by her mother, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), and how much her patients appreciated her. :Wunedel decided she wanted to touch peoples lives like that, and in 2010 started her own nursing career; and in 2016 earned a master’s in nursing education. Wunedel enjoys music and singing and arts and crafts, though doesn’t claim to be an artist. Jonathan was born in DeLand, Florida, but has been in Atlanta long enough to reject Floridian status. He finally finished a bachelor's in psychology in 2016, did more school (a master's in clinical mental health counseling), started a counseling practice, then decided it’d be crazy to stop now and is going for a PhD, too. Jonathan enjoys cooking, making things, learning, and his dog, Rylo.

Wunedel and Jonathan were set up by mutual friends Charles and Sabbi Jones who, along with Sherline Golden, tricked them into meeting. Charles hired Jonathan to cater a "dinner party for friends." Wunedel was told they’d be going out for a birthday dinner. Wunedel found out what was really going on before Jonathan, who was ambushed with a kind of interview after dinner. After lunch the next day, Jonathan couldn't figure out how to get out of this and so decided to see where it went. He very suavely gave Wunedel one of his business cards—romantic? Not really. Efficient? Absolutely!—and they commenced talking. A month later, she came back for a visit, they went to Ikea together, and then he very awkwardly asked her out officially. What followed was 15 months of long-distance dating, culminating in an evil scheme.

In early December 2021, Jonathan enlisted Wunedel's friends to help with a surprise engagement. They set up a Friendsmas party for the week before Christmas and cajoled her to coming. She was already planning on driving to Georgia on Saturday to spend Christmas. The Thursday before, after working all night, flying from Atlanta to Washington, DC, and finally to Ft. Myers, Jonathan secretly arrived at Wannaly's house. He cooked her favorite-of-his dish—and the first he'd ever made specifically for her (spaghetti aglio y olio)—and desperately worked to hold off a panic attack. The trap was laid. Wunedel arrived for what she thought was a Christmas party but quickly realized this was no ordinary celebration. She walked into the room and was caught off guard when she saw Jonathan, holding a bouquet and box of chocolates, surrounded by her friends and sister. Before she knew it, Jonathan was down on one knee and popping the question. And when she finally stopped laughing, she said yes. It was truly a Christmas to remember.

Wunedel and Jonathan officially tied the knot on September 3, 2022. However, due to Circumstances™️ they were unable to celebrate with everyone they wanted to invite. So now, on August 26, 2023, they are celebrating a year of marriage with Wedding 2: Wedding Harder, and doing it with the whole crew. We hope you can join us!
