Jonnaly and Carlo first met during their freshman year at UNF in a College Algebra class. As they waited outside the classroom one day, Jonnaly recognized Carlo from mutual high school friends and decided to say hello. That small moment sparked a friendship and an unexpected discovery: their parents were actually friends when they were babies, and Carlo had even attended Jonnaly’s first birthday party! Years later, fate brought them together again, this time as co-workers for UNF’s On Campus Transition program in which they mentored students with special needs. This allowed them to see each other more often, and what started as shared work shifts soon turned into study sessions, gym workouts, Barnes & Noble reading clubs, movie nights, and countless moments in between. Their friendship naturally blossomed into something more, and one day Carlo invited Jonnaly on a date to St. Augustine where he officially asked her to be his girlfriend. That marked the beginning of a seven-year journey filled with love, growth, and unwavering support through life’s ups and downs. Then, on November 27, 2024, Carlo got down on one knee and asked Jonnaly to be his wife. Now, they’re excited to begin this next chapter together and can’t wait to celebrate their special day with you!
