The Story of Us

It all began in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at The Crown Coliseum.

We spent nearly a year working in the same building without ever being formally introduced—just two coworkers passing by, unaware of the story about to unfold. Everything changed during a moment in history none of us will forget. As the world shut down, our venue transformed into a vaccination clinic, and we suddenly found ourselves working side by side. Days were long, but we filled the hours with tic-tac-toe and hangman in the parking lot, and endless rounds of Connect Four in the office. Somewhere between the laughter, and shared snacks, a spark quietly started to grow. Eventually, Garrett worked up the courage to ask me out, and on July 1, 2021, we shared our first date at Mash House. We closed the place down talking, then stayed up all night on the phone—already not wanting the night to end (Garrett ordered meatloaf on our first date, and no, he will never live it down). As life slowly resumed after the pandemic, so did new opportunities. Though our connection was undeniable, we both knew that Fayetteville wasn’t our forever home. We wanted each other to fully embrace the season of life we were in without being held back. We made a promise to support each other, no matter where life took us next. In December of 2021, Garrett moved to Savannah, Georgia to help open Enmarket Arena. A few months later, in April of 2022, I began a new chapter in Charleston, South Carolina with the Charleston RiverDogs. Despite the miles between us, we never lost touch. In fact, we grew even closer. Soon, weekends were filled with afternoons on Shem Creek, baseball games at The Joe, beach days at Isle of Palms, strolls down River Street in Savannah, concerts at Enmarket Arena, and sunsets on Tybee Island. On May 15, 2022, standing in the ocean at Isle of Palms near the 7th Street beach access, Garrett told me he loved me for the first time. A few months later, on September 17, 2022, he asked me to be his girlfriend—at the top of the Sky Wheel in Atlanta, Georgia. November 1, 2024, Garrett proposed while we were watching the sunrise by the Sullivan Island Lighthouse. Now, after years of friendship, hours of late-night phone calls, countless road trips, and falling in love across two states, we can’t wait to start the next chapter of our story. On December 13, 2025, we will say “I do” surrounded by the people who mean the absolute most to us. We are so excited to celebrate this day with all of you — and even more excited for everything to come.
