Surprisingly high quality museum with awesome exhibits on geology, dinosaurs, native peoples, etc.
The Wasatch Mountains are spectacular and an easy 20-45 minute drive depending on your destination. Just driving up one of the canyons is great sightseeing. Also consider going for a hike or grabbing a drink at one of the ski resort bars.
Walk, bike, scooter, bus, or drive down Harvey Milk Blvd (900 S) Between the famed whale on 1100 all the way to the International peace gardens, there are so many great businesses, shops, restaurants on this street. You could truly spend a whole day here! From East to West, our favorite spots include: - the Whale (a very cool, very random, huge whale sculpture in the middle of a round about that's inspired tons of local lore) - Liberty Park and the Tracy Aviary - Annata Collective (Thrift Store) - The Legendarium (Fun fantasy and sci fi bookstore) - Loki Coffee - Vintage Drift (thrift store) - Randy's Records - Normal Ice Cream (OUR FAV) - The Spot (one of our fav pool bars!!) - Central 9th Market (incredible bfast sandwiches) - Bar Nohm (higher end cocktails and small bites) - Water Witch (fun cocktails) - Scion Cider - The Pearl (another one of our favorite restaurants -- Asian Fusion) - Vertical Dinder (vegan diner) - Jordan River park and International Peace Gardens
A tiny sculpture garden tucked away in the middle of the Central City, best known for its Joseph Smith Sphinx. It was envisioned, designed, and created by Thomas Battersby Child, and features 12 original sculptures and over 70 stones engraved with scriptures, poems, and literary texts. It's very weird and very beloved.
A great little Aviary in Liberty Park. There might even be baby flamingos!
If you've heard about Swig, or "dirty sodas," or watched the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, now is the time to go to Swig and experience this phenomenon for your self. There are many locations.
This is new! In our opinion, the stops don't quite *grasp* Salt Lake, but it could be a hilarious and informative tour. Plus, you can use your pass for 24 hours and get on or off at any time!
If you don't have time to explore the Wasatch, this trail has many trailheads right in town, so you can go for a walk in the foothills with views of the city.
