Jeremy's cousin (Stephanie) and Mindy's friend (Sue) had schemed a plan for a Labor Day weekend in Austin, September 2017. Jeremy came with the group and Mindy met him for the first time. After a few months, Mindy visited Houston and saw Jeremy at a friend's birthday party. That is when they were able to talk a little more and learned more about each other's lives. Jeremy took that opportunity to make a "move" and asked for her number! Being in two different cities, it was a slower process getting to intentionally know each other. They spent random evenings on the phone talking to each other about family, faith, and friends. During those calls and intermittent hang outs in Austin and Houston, their interest grew for each other. On March 3rd, 2018, Jeremy made it official by asking Mindy to be his girlfriend at the Austin Public Library rooftop. They initially thought this was a crazy idea as the both of them would be pursuing the biggest adventures of their lives. Jeremy would be starting CRNA school in Fort Worth and Mindy would be opening her preschool in Austin come August. However, they had this undeniable sense of peace that this was the right next step and it was God's plan for them. For the next 1 year and 9 months, Jeremy and Mindy enjoyed getting to know each other's families, community, and cities. They enjoyed their time together by eating good food, laughing with friends, and random walks around town. The rest is history!
Mindy invited Jeremy to her family's Christmas reunion in New Orleans. Jeremy pretended to be unsure if he could make it due to his school schedule. However, he was secretly planning the proposal with Mindy's family. They enjoyed quality time with Mindy's family in New Orleans. During one of the adventures through the city, Jeremy proposed in Jackson Square in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. She was so surprised and with tears streaming down from her face said YES!
After a lot of prayer and discussion on our next steps in continuing to have a safe wedding in 2020 in the middle of Covid-19, we felt called to move forward and have a small wedding. With just our immediate family, we had a mini-mony in Mindy's living room in Pflugerville, TX. We realized in that very same room is where we met for the first time and we couldn't have been happier to celebrate our sharing of vows in that spot. It was a joyous day! After a year, we were still saddened by the fact that we have not been able to celebrate with each of you. This August, we will enjoy a dinner and a celebration together! It is a tricky time, so we know whatever decision you make on attending or not attending is completely understandable! We love you and know we will see you all again soon!
