We met through mutual friends at TCU (thanks, Meg & Casey!), while Hunter was visiting from Texas Tech. We spent many weekends hanging out with the same group. There was always something there, but that 5 hour distance was a bit much.
After not seeing or speaking to each other in 6 years, I (Chelsea) was sitting on a patio with a friend when I saw “my friend Hunter” walking by. His name was promptly yelled out (thanks, Kaitlin!). Hunter walked in, said I looked great, and thanks to some liquid courage, I said we should hang out sometime. Spoiler alert: we never stopped hanging out.
We drove up to Santa Barbara to meet Chelsea’s parents at her brother, Derek, and sister-in-law, CJ’s house for a “family dinner”. Once we arrived, we were all waiting in the (beautifully decorated) backyard waiting around to go to breakfast. I (Chelsea) was (not surprisingly) getting hangry waiting on Derek to get ready. Finally, I got up and said, "Are we ready to go now?" Hunter walked toward me and said, "We can go in a minute." He grabbed both of my hands and got down on one knee... and I promptly started bawling so hard he had to wait to ask me the easiest question ever.
