Question

What is the parking situation?

Answer

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden has many options for parking. There is a paid outdoor lot on the west end of the garden. If this is full, there is also underground parking available at the Walker Art Center across the street. The neighborhoods surrounding the Sculpture Garden also have lots of street parking, both paid and unpaid. When driving to and from the wedding locations, please avoid driving through downtown. There will be a "No Kings" protest in downtown that day- we don't expect it to cause any disruptions to our venue, but driving through downtown might be tricky! At Surly, the parking is free. Surly has a large lot and an overflow lot. In the case that both lots are full, you can use the Malcolm Yards parking lot adjacent to Surly Brewing. We recommend carpooling or ride sharing where possible in order to avoid parking difficulties!

Question

Is this event outdoors or indoors?

Answer

Both! The ceremony will be outside in the Cowles Pavilion at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and the reception will be inside at Surly brewing. There is also a small, private patio for our guests to enjoy at Surly if you want to take another step outside. It is fall in Minnesota, so the weather will be hard to predict. It could be 40 degrees, it could be 70 degrees. Be prepared with a sweater, blanket, jacket or a layer in case it is chilly during the ceremony!

Question

Will there be anything besides beer at Surly?

Answer

Due to laws in Minnesota, Surly can only serve alcohol that they make in-house, which is, in fact, beer! Breweries are a huge part of Anthony and I's story, so while we understand not everyone loves beer as much as we do, we hope you can find something on their menu that you like. For those who really dislike the taste of beer, we recommend the sour for fruity-seltzer lovers, the Pentagram for red-wine lovers, or the "rose" beer for a wine-reminscent take. At this private event, Surly will offer two seasonal "beer" cocktails that do not taste like beer at all. Our bartenders can provide you with more information on these. There will also be non-alcoholic options available, like soda and lemonade.

Question

Will the bar be hosted or cash bar?

Answer

A little of both! We will host an open bar during cocktail hour (4:30-6:00pm). Once dinner service begins, you can use the drink tokens you will find at your table to add drinks to our hosted tab! The drink tokens are good for beer, cocktails, mocktails, kombucha, and THC beverages. You can use unused tokens or grab extras at the bar in the "take-a-token / leave-a-token" basket. Coke products, lemonade, and sparkling water can be added to our tab at any time! After the tokens are gone, feel free to get more on your own tab! :)

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We would love for our guests to lean into the fall color scheme! Think warm neutral or deep jewel tones, and feel free to mix in patterns. You can get as dressed up as you want, but cocktail to formal wear is preferred.

Question

Can I bring a +1?

Answer

We have always envisioned having a very small and intimate wedding of close guests. If you have a plus one, it will be indicated on your RSVP. However, if you are in a relationship and we accidentally forgot to include your partner on the RSVP, please reach out!

Question

Can we bring our child?

Answer

We want our guests with children to be able to fully enjoy our wedding! The reception is also at a brewery, which is not a super child-friendly environment. However, if your child is two years of age or younger, and you want or need to bring them, you can!

Question

Should I get you a gift for your wedding?

Answer

We have pretty much everything we need, and we really don't want to fill our little apartment with a bunch of things we don't need! So if you desire to get us a gift for a wedding, we would love for you to get us "experiences". There are some ideas on our registry page, or if you know the kinds of things we would enjoy, you can get us an experience of your own choosing, or you can simply contribute to our "experience fund" and we will use it for fun date nights or things to do together in our first year of marriage.
