Flight
There are many options for traveling to our wedding destination and this is by no means a comprehensive list. Depending on your departure city, some of these options may not be possible or require additional connecting flights. You have full autonomy to plan your vacation and our intent is not to limit you to the below options. Most direct routes: -Fly from USA to Toulouse, FR -> train/bus/car rental to Carcassonne -Fly to Carcassonne from: Brussels, Cagliari, Cork, Dublin, Edinburgh, London (Stansted Airport), Manchester, East Midlands, Porto Least expensive routes: (note that this will vary based on your departure city) -Fly Tap Portugal Airline from USA and enjoy a free stop over in Porto or Lisbon for up to two nights. *Pro tip: Porto has a direct flight to Carcassonne -Fly from USA to Barcelona or London *Pro tip: London has a direct flight to Carcassonne For those looking to fly into Carcassonne, be sure to review the frequency of flights that depart your anticipated city. In the event of cancellations or travel delays, it's always best practice to book flights that may depart to the city more than once a day. This may not always be possible, so be sure to familiarize yourself with other routes of travel in the event of needing a Plan B!
Travel Note
For guests that are looking for more travel guidance, we’ve identified a travel agent who can help plan your trip. Kelley Malay of The Royal Journey Travel Group lists Carcassonne as one of her favorite destinations, and the city is featured prominently on her website Kelley charges an up front planning fee (likely $250, discounted for our group and the price will vary depending on the complexity of your needs). If all you need is a little guidance a fee may not be required. Or, if you want to extend your trip she can help with whatever level of support you need. More information is available on the website linked in the "view" button. Kelley can be reached at 708-574-5895 or Kelley.Malay@royaljourneytravel.com.

Rental Car
For travelers that want ultimate flexibility, renting a car is always the best option. Either Jeff or I can tell you all about the driving etiquette in France that we've picked up from our past trips. Europcar is comparable to a Hertz/Avis, and we've used it without issue. Typically the cars are available for pick up/drop off next to airports. Make sure that if you are renting a car, you review where an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required. For example, you do not need an IDP to drive in or rent a car in France, but it is required to rent a car in Spain. The application is cheap and easy, and must be submitted no sooner than 6 months before travel. www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html Parking at Chateau de Pennautier is free and plentiful. Do note that there is a locked gate for parking inside the chateau grounds. Let us know your plans to rent a car/need for parking, and either Jeff or I can provide you with the gate code.
