How We Met

1.26.18

Todd and I officially met in January of 2018, but little did we know our relationship was 4 months in the making. During the previous football season, Todd was back in College Station at a tailgate with several friends from his company, which happened to be the same tailgate my sister, Tara, and brother-in-law, Jarid, were at as well. Somewhere between Jell-O shots and corn hole, Todd offered to hold my then 3 month old nephew to give my brother-in-law a break. By the end of the night, Todd was "Uncle Todd", and Tara and her friends ran a background check on Todd, and told him he needed to meet me. After hearing that Todd was an Aggie, I politely declined Tara's offer to introduce us. (After all, football season with this guy would have been really tough!) However, Tara and Jarid decided to invite Todd to Jarid's 30th birthday dinner and did not tell me until we got there. Aside from all eyes being on us the whole night, it was a lovely evening, and Todd somehow managed to convince me to go on a "real date, just us".

The Proposal

8.9.20

Todd and I had just returned to Dallas from our friends' wedding in Scottsdale, when he told me we could "Sunday Funday". (He NEVER wants to have fun on Sundays!) We had dinner plans with my family and some friends that were in town from Alabama that evening, and we planned to go to The Star before dinner for some drinks. Todd was in the process of building a house in Celina, and he found out that they had poured the slab when we were out of town. So he asked if we could swing by and see the progress on our way to dinner. When we got to the house, Matthew 7:24-25 was beautifully written in chalk on our foundation, which is a scripture from a book Todd and I were reading at the time. There were pictures of us, champagne, and roses all setup behind a wooden structure that Todd had built as a decoy, along with "Will you Marry Me?" As soon as Todd got down on one knee, and I said YES, both of our families came running around the corner where they had been hiding the whole time! We celebrated at my parent's house afterward with our families; it was the best "Sunday Funday" ever! ;)
