You'll likely find her nose buried in a book, or her ears turned up at a true crime podcast. There is no better depiction of Marissa, than as the elementary school librarian she is.

Antonio and Marissa's story started off like every modern romance, on a dating app. It wasn't Antonio's charm or looks that caught her attention, but their lengthy conversation about desserts. They first matched on Hinge in November 2018 and after a few messages back and forth, they set their first date for Raleigh Beer Garden. Marissa instantly saw how kind and thoughtful Antonio was, and after a few more months, they made it official. Over the next two and a half years, they did all kinds of things together. They went to local concerts in the park and larger ones in DC. They went skiing and snowboarding in Virginia and ate crabs in Maryland. They've been to the beaches in Michigan and the beaches in North Carolina. It didn't take long for Antonio to say I love you first, and finally on August 15th, 2021, Marissa said Yes!

The Summer of 2021 was ending soon, so Antonio suggested that they go on a quick beach trip before Marissa's school year started. They had trouble finding parking near the beach, so Marissa suggested that they wake up early and watch the sunrise. Little did Marissa know, Antonio had planned a surprise sunrise proposal for the following day -- the timing could not have been better. The next morning, Antonio woke Marissa up to head to the beach. As they walked over the sand dune, she noticed photographers and a romantic charcuterie breakfast set up. She had no idea it was all for her and was very excited when Antonio pulled her to the romantic setting. Despite showing his nerves with uneasy, heavy breathing, Antonio got down on one knee and asked Marissa the question that changed their live journeys!
