Becoming the Joneses

We met in our hometown of Puyallup Washington in 2006, junior high. We found our way to each other early on and even went on a first date to the school improv show followed by a scoop of ice cream at the local ice cream shop. We hugged goodnight and went on with our lives, making our way through junior high and high school. We crossed paths frequently; sitting across the lunch table from each other, having the occasional class together, or even riding the same sports bus. Nothing became of it until later on after high school. We crossed paths during a time when we were both single, sharing the same interests, and getting to know each other all over again. Soon after that, we were inseparable. We dated for a year before deciding to go off to college together and eventually moved in together. We pushed each other to follow our dreams and start a foundation for the rest of our lives. Kayla had dreamt of experiencing a lantern ceremony since she was a little girl. Douglas listened and planned for her dreams long before she knew. He surprised her on their 5th anniversary with tickets to the Rise Lantern Festival. Little did she know, he arranged a whole proposal the night of the event, making her dreams bigger than they had ever been. We are happily engaged making so many plans for the future and can not wait to celebrate with the people we love most.
