On a picturesque May evening in 2021, Lee was introduced to Jonna via a mutual friend (thanks DJ) in Downtown Huntsville. The two struck up a conversation and engaged in some witty banter. He teased her about her Auburn fandom, and she jokingly compared him to an unsavory character from Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Dennis… she compared him to Dennis). Her display of humor delighted Lee, and he asked her out the following weekend. Jonna was 20 minutes late to their first date... Despite her tardiness, they hit it off over some drinks and sub-par chicken sliders. He accompanied her to a birthday party and demonstrated value at Stack Cup. The two felt a strong connection and made plans to continue seeing each other. About a month later, on his 31st birthday, the two officially became a couple. The two soon embarked on a year of adventures. They experienced (aka survived) their first college football gameday together with friends in Atlanta. They made several excursions across the Southeast to jam out at concerts. They also attended several weddings together (including three in one week), both thankful to finally have a significant plus one. The highlight of these adventures was a weekend getaway to Santa Rosa Beach, FL, right before Jonna began graduate school at UAB. The two enjoyed two days of fun in the sun, or in Lee’s case, fun in the sun shirt and floppy hat. The final night of their vacation, they had a dinner reservation at Café 30a. Lee took a “random” detour through Grayton Beach State Park on their way to the restaurant, under the guise of watching the sunset. While the August sun set on the Emerald Coast and a salty breeze ruffled their hair, Lee got on a knee and proposed. Spoiler alert: She said yes! We couldn’t be happier or more thankful to have met and fallen in love, and we’re so excited to spend our big day with each of you!
