In May 2022, during a summer internship dedicated to helping children build confidence in their reading and in themselves, our paths crossed. What began as a three-month internship quickly turned into a meaningful friendship. We laughed until tears were shed, shared our dreams and aspirations, and talked about the journeys that shaped us. When summer came to an end, Jonathan returned to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for his senior year, while Tishera headed back to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for her junior year. Despite the distance, the friendship remained strong—and along the way, Jonathan realized his feelings for Tishera were growing. After many prayers, everything changed in May 2023. Tishera attended Jonathan’s graduation party, where she heard countless loving words from those closest to him—and couldn’t help but notice how handsome he looked in a burgundy suit. That night, her feelings for Jonathan became clear. The next day, Jonathan offered to pay for Tishera’s gas after her trip from Hope Mills. She smiled and replied, “You can repay me by taking me out on a date.” From that moment on, the rest was history. 💍✨
