They met online using a popular dating app called Bumble. Tiffany had been on the site for sometime, while Jonathan swears he was only on for a day. On this particular app the woman has to make first contact and Tiffany decided to start by sending a friendly wave in the form of a gif of Kelly Kapowski from 90’s sitcom Saved by the Bell. The conversation quickly skipped over casual pleasantries to quirky repartee. It had only been a day after “swiping right” and connecting that numbers were exchanged and a first date was set.
Their first date took place at a restaurant/bar called Hop Cat in Louisville, Ky on Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands. This was originally Jonathans’s idea. When Tiffany first arrived, Jonathan had already been seated with a cocktail to calm his nerves. The two sat and chatted on the restaurant side of Hop Cat sharing a plate of fries. Afterward, they decided to head to the backside of the restaurant which included a big open game room. The couple played numerous games such as, Street Fighter, Mario Kart, shuffleboard, and darts. When the night came to a close Jonathan drove Tiffany home (well sort of, it was actually down the street since this was an online date and Tiffany didn’t want him to know were she lived in case he was a weirdo.) They then shared their first kiss in Jonathan’s Jeep Wrangler, said goodnight and the rest is history!
The proposal took place during a family trip to Florida with Tiffany’s family. It was Jonathan’s idea to go and take some pictures at sunset down by the beach. He insisted that they should use his metal detector to try to look for stuff buried in the sand. When they were down at the beach, Jonathan had the metal detector and Tiffany had the shovel. It was shortly after they arrived that Jonathan’s device started to beep and he instructed Tiffany where to dig in the sand. As she dug, she found a bottle with a written message in it. She opened the bottle to read the written message, Jonathan started to play on a speaker Tim McGraw’s “You’re My Best Friend” and got down on one knee to propose. She quickly gave him a yes and the couple embraced as they heard claps all along the beach. This was in Fort Myers, Florida on Bonita Beach in November 2021
