THE BRIDE
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Milly brings creativity, warmth, and wit everywhere she goes. She is currently in her fourth year of dental school at NYU, where she’s finishing up her training before starting her career as a dentist. Outside of school, Milly loves baking (especially chocolate chip cookies — if you know, you know), listening to music (Harry Styles and Noah Kahan are always on repeat), going to concerts, scrolling TikTok, and cheering on the Rangers alongside Jon. She’s the boss— even though she lets Jon think he is. What Milly loves most about Jon is his loyalty and how deeply he cares for the people in his life. Even on his busiest days, Jon always finds time for the people he loves, bringing a steady presence, thoughtfulness, and genuine care to everything he does — especially in their relationship.
THE GROOM
Jon was born in Brooklyn and lived only a few blocks away from Milly's childhood home. He and his family moved to NJ when he was 4 years old and he is now NJ's biggest fan. He’s currently in his fourth year of medical school, and will be starting orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Joseph's later this year. When he’s not studying, Jon can usually be found watching the Giants or Rangers, lifting weights, playing chess, catching the latest Marvel movie, or scouting out the best sushi spot nearby. In the relationship, Jon proudly takes on the role of the organizer — the one who likes a good plan and sticks to it. What Jon loves most about Milly is how effortlessly she makes him laugh. No matter the situation, they can always look at each other and find humor in the moment. Whether they’re binging a new show, planning their next adventure, or enjoying one of Milly’s legendary sourdough chocolate chip cookies, there’s truly never a dull moment when they’re together.
MODERN DAY JEWISH MATCHMAKING
In the winter of 2022–2023, Jon and Milly were both halfway through their first year of medical and dental school — and unknowingly part of a matchmaking plan months in the making. Jon’s Baba Rita and Milly’s mom, Sveta, had been swimming together at Kings Bay Y almost every day, quietly plotting what they were sure would be a perfect match. Jon was told Milly was a smart dental student and “beautiful.” Milly was told Jon was a medical student and “a good-looking guy.” Both had been through enough setup attempts to usually say no — but with winter break in full swing and spirits high, they agreed to meet. Milly’s number made its way from Sveta to Baba Rita and finally to Jon. He reached out in January and the connection was instant. After two weeks of nonstop texting, Jon asked Milly out on a date — the first of many sushi dates. On their first date, Jon remembers thinking his grandma was absolutely right — Milly was beautiful. He also remembers that Milly was clearly nervous. Milly remembers being initially impressed that Jon texted in full sentences, and that he actually knew how to hold a conversation in person. She now admits that she was nervous, and was even doing jumping jacks to calm her nerves as Jon pulled up. Jon and Milly have navigated medical and dental school side by side and are now looking forward to graduating on the same day (Milly will forever be a doctor for half a day longer), getting married, and starting their life together.
