FAQs

Question

Where is Sendai?

Answer

Sendai is in Northeast Japan, where the great East Japan earthquake of 2011 occurred. There is a bullet train station in Sendai via the Tohoku Shinkansen Line. There is also an airport in the outskirts of Sendai. If travelling via Sendai airport, there is a JR line directly connected to the airport which will bring you to Sendai train station.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Japanese weddings are very formal. But we're aiming for a mixture of both cultures, so suits for men and a nice dress for women will suffice.

Question

Do I need a visa?

Answer

For short term stays, most countries do not require visas, but double check. namely, citizens of China, Philippines, Vietnam, Russia will require visas. https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html

Question

Gifts?

Answer

You're travelling overseas for our wedding. You being able to attend is more than we could ask. Please no monetary gifts. Other gifts will not be refused :)

Question

RSVP

Answer

We ask that everyone RSVP by January 15, 2020. If you are certain that you cannot attend earlier than the RSVP date, please let us know.

Question

Travel around Japan

Answer

Japan is a beautiful place, rich in culture, a place unlike the western world. It really depends on what you're looking to see in Japan as there are so many different things and places to explore. We suggest researching beforehand to get the most of your trip. Again the JR Pass will really come in handy as it can be pretty expensive to travel. For the short amount of time, we suggest possibly doing your sightseeing prior to the wedding and make the wedding more of the last stop in your Japan trip.

Question

Food

Answer

Food allergies and sensitivities can be a difficult topic in Japan as it is just not a widespread topic and restaurants don't accommodate for the masses, anticipating allergies. [~~arerugi ga arimasu. = I have ~~allergies.] may be a good phrase to memorize.

Question

I have more questions.

Answer

Sorry, I kind of just threw this together. So ask me directly if you have further questions, and I'll probably add the questions to this area.
