Our Story

On April 23, 2021 at approximately 3:00 PM, Jonathan took Reggie for his after-work walk. Despite it being two hours earlier than usual, he was eagerly whining to go outside and play. As they approached the grassy area, Reggie spotted his dog friend Roo accompanied by a short, blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl whom neither one of them knew. Reggie immediately started playing with Roo, which gave Jonathan the opportunity to strike up a conversation with her. As they chatted, he had a sneaking suspicion that he recognized her from somewhere. Lindsay told Jonathan that she was a food scientist who had recently moved back from Connecticut. Suddenly, it all clicked into place. In 2016-2018, he had matched with this same girl on dating sites but had never mustered the courage to ask her out. As soon as he put two and two together, he was so embarrassed and got Reggie and continued their walk. In the meantime he had texted Roo’s mom and asked if her new roommate’s name was Lindsay, she responded “Yes, do you want her number?!”. Once Jonathan got Lindsay’s number, he secured a date for the next day at dog beach. He couldn’t wait to see her again, so he asked her if she wanted to come over for chicken tacos and the Yankee game that night. They had a great time and he walked her home, ending the night with a goodnight kiss. We both knew right then and there that we had found our forever person.

The Proposal

Written by Jonathan

It was the morning of January 27, 2023 and Lindsay and I were on our way home from our Friday morning grocery run. I had a proposal date in mind for April; however, while we were driving home from the store that morning the song “This is It” by Scotty McCreery came on the radio and I knew I couldn’t wait any longer - today was going to be the day! We both went back to work as usual, but meanwhile I was secretly scrambling to come up with a plan. I texted my brother in law’s sisters who live nearby and asked if they could be our last minute hidden photographers. They accepted and we planned to meet overlooking the Nashville bridge at 3:00 PM. At about 2:50 PM I asked Reggie and Lindsay if they wanted to go for a walk. Lindsay claimed she still had to work longer but I insisted the walk had to be now. We proceeded our walk like everything was normal, when deep down I had never been so nervous in my life. Right as we were approaching the bridge I saw my hidden photographers and knew it was go time. I couldn’t tell you what happened or what I said, but all I remember is when I asked the question all Lindsay said was “NO NO NO!” 😂 Once she realized this was not a drill and this was actually happening she said YES!! I figured since we met walking Reggie it was only appropriate I proposed walking Reggie, and it turned out to be better than I ever expected!
