After getting engaged in 2018, Jon and Lauren started to save as much money as possible for immigration fees, a wedding, and a new start of life together. Distance, 4,201 miles to be exact, kept them apart for so long, they were so ecstatic when Jon finally made his final flight to the USA in August 2019. With only 90 days to be legally wed, the couple said a quick 'I do' at sunrise on the water on October 10, 2019. They had the ultimate goal of 'renewing their vows' one year later with friends and family. But, as we all know the world stopped turning in March 2020 when Covid-19 scoured every corner of our planet. Married for only 6 months, every aspect of the couple's life got flipped upside down. Since then, the things that would have broken most couples apart have only made Jon and Lauren stronger than ever. You name it, and it's probably happened to these two - passing of loved ones and beloved pets, multiple job losses, extreme sicknesses and surgeries, and a house that felt like it was quite literally falling apart. But, somehow despite all the odds, these two stuck together and continued to stay committed to one another - ultimately proving their vows rang true to every word. Because they never got to have the wedding, or really even that true 'bridal' moment, they have decided to renew their vows on their anniversary this year. While nothing about their relationship has ever been deemed 'normal', they felt like the vow renewal should be no different. In a true elopement style, Jon and Lauren will renew their vows privately in the Highlands of Scotland on October 10, 2025 where they first really fell in love. The couple does not want a big celebration of any kind, but kindly requests you consider making a gift (found in the registry portion) to support them in their next chapter of life, together. “Two souls don’t find each other, by simple accident.” - Jorge Luis Borges
