In 2019, we met one fateful morning at our church home here in Dallas, TX. For years, we had lived in the same town, gone to the same church, and he had known my brother in college, yet we had never met. My brother never actually mentioned that he had other siblings, so when Jonathan walked over to say hi before service, we were both surprised. When my brother introduced us, I made sure he had my IG. The lesson here? Never be afraid to slide into the DMs! After our first date at Gloria's turned into a four hour long conversation, we obviously both wanted to see each other again, but would you believe he wasn't sure if I was interested?? Guys, they can be so oblivious! His friend convinced him to reach out to me for a second date, and four years later the rest is history (Aya? I owe you one!!)
Last year our anniversary happened to fall on a weekend date so, he had planned to surprise me. For starters, we went to get facials and mani-pedis at a Japanese Retreat & Spa, followed by dinner. The next day we had dinner at a nice restaurant on the top floor! While we were there, his mom, dad and best friend went to work decorating his place and waited for us to come back. When we finished, he told me that there was a surprise but that I needed to be blindfolded until we got back to his place. He had to guide me to the door ya'll! When he opened the door and took the blindfold off, we saw beautiful decorations and before I could turn around he kneeling in front of me! I screamed YES and I became someone's fiancé that day! We're so ecstatic for you to join us to celebrate our Happy Ever After!
