To be honest, our story is pretty simple. Back in high school, we knew of eachother but didn’t know eachother well. I actually dated a guy while Jon was dating this guy’s sister, and we still didn’t know eachother 😆 Once those relationships were well over, I reached out to him on Facebook mainly because I couldn’t stop thinking about getting to know him. Once we started talking, everything just clicked. Shortly after I turned 16, I made my first trip to the big town of Industry to officially meet this Jon Smiley ♥️ We decided to make it official quickly after! After just a couple weeks the relationship just wasn’t working out. Throughout high school we would talk and hangout randomly and the feelings would always come back, but nothing ever got started again. Until... July 4th, 2014 Jon sent me a Facebook friend request and message while I was out on the river with my sister Griffyn. With plenty of liquid courage on my side 😉 i quickly responded and asked him to come to Beardstown to see the fireworks with me that night. He held up his end of the deal, but we had boat troubles and I was late to meeting him. We not only missed the Beardstown fireworks but we pulled in to Rushville right as those fireworks were ending. He has never let me live that night down 🤦🏼‍♀️ But it’s the night that started our forever. We were inseparable all summer long up until the night before he made his big move to Carbondale for college. We were determined to make the long distance work, and we did! It wasn’t easy, but now, almost 7 years later we are engaged, living in a home that we own with all our chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, a guinea, 1 farm kitty, and our 3 awesome pups!!! We are both so excited for October 2nd, 2021 and to officially start our lives together as Jon and Kennedi Smiley! ♥️
