They say the kind of person you meet at a bar isn’t the kind of person you should date, let alone marry, but, lucky for us, our relationship has never exactly followed the rules. In 2015, Keeley got a job at the American Legion to make a little extra money. Jo, Jon’s aunt, was the person who trained Keeley, so, naturally, they talked about him every time he came in to visit with Jo and grab a Molson. After training, Jon “randomly” frequented the Legion on the days Keeley happened to work. Keeley thought Jon was stuck up because he never talked, so she didn’t make much conversation with him other than to ask about more beer. In February 2016, the Legion had their annual Reverse Raffle. Keeley was working, and Jon was there with his dad. After Jon had gotten drinks for him and his dad, Keeley mentioned to Dave, “I just think he’s so cute, and I don’t know why!” Around the time the Reverse Raffle was ending, Jon and his dad left without another word. Keeley chased Jon out the door, but she was seconds too late and he was already gone. Instead of just leaving it at that, Keeley messaged Jon on Facebook asking him to come have a drink. Jon agreed, and as long as it took him to walk back, Jon was waiting for Keeley to be off the clock. She sat, and after a few awkward minutes, they were talking each other’s legs off. Over drinks, they spent the rest of the evening talking with no end in sight. From then on, the were inseparable.
Time passed and Jon and Keeley spent every day together. Traveling, spending time with Cohen, gardening. Anything we did we were doing together. After about a year together Jon had no doubt that Keeley was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Keeley was carrying their first child together and Jon was falling more and more in love every day. He went with his mom to pick out the ring and somehow kept it all a secret from Keeley the whole time! On our refrigerator we had tons of alphabet magnets. Jon arranged them to spell out “Will you marry me?” When Keeley got home from work Jon was standing in the kitchen waiting on Keeley. As soon as she saw him she knew that something was up, but didn’t know exactly what yet. He took the box with the ring in it from behind his back, got down on one knee and said, “I love you, Keeley. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Cohen and that little baby. Will you marry me?” After what seemed like minutes of hysterical laughing/crying Keeley finally said yes. She cried and he cried and the ring fit perfectly. We capped the night off with our first date night as fiancés and we have been planning our perfect wedding day ever since!
