Our story begins in December, 2021 when Katie and Jon matched on a dating app. Neither of us was entirely sure what we were looking for, but fate (and a well-written profile or two about wine, soft pretzels, and travel) brought us together. After a few weeks of chatting, we decided to meet in person. Our first date was at a wine bar in Covington, Kentucky. Katie liked how well Jon carried on the conversation and was impressed with all his travels and adventures. Jon was drawn to Katie's energy and how her smile seemed to light up the room. Between the laughter, easy conversation, and a few glasses of wine, we made plans to see each other again. A few months and many dates later, Jon made it official. After a fun night at a hockey game, he asked Katie to be his girlfriend — and of course, she said yes. Fast forward to November 13, 2024 — just a normal Wednesday (or so Katie thought). Jon had invited Katie over for dinner. Katie was looking forward to some yummy potato soup (and really just not having to cook dinner herself). When she arrived at Jon's house, she walked into a trail of rose petals leading to Jon down on one knee. He asked her to marry him, and of course, she said yes! From our first date to the proposal, we have been so thankful to have taken the time to get to know each other and grow together as a couple. We have enjoyed trying new restaurants and breweries and of course returning to the wine bar where we had our first date for birthdays and anniversaries. We have enjoyed playing tennis together (even though Jon almost always wins), playing volleyball together occasionally (we usually play on separate teams in different leagues), and playing our state license plate game that we made up (Katie usually wins on that). We have taken trips to San Francisco, Michigan, and Charleston. And we always look forward to our Sunday "Fun Days" together when we go to church, try a new brunch spot, or simply enjoy a lazy day at home. As we count down the days until we say “I do,” we are so grateful for every twist, turn, and random Wednesday that brought us here. We are also thankful to our family and friends who have supported us along the way. We cannot wait to celebrate our special day with you!
