The Last Bookstore

The Last Bookstore

453 S. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90013

An elaborate, double floor book maze, with sculptures, art and shops. There is a bank vault filled with horror and sci fi, which is our personal favorite.

Musso & Frank Grill

Musso & Frank Grill

6667 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028

One of J&J's favorites! For decades Hollywood legends have hung out at Musso and Frank Grill. It opened in 1919 and is completely entwined with stories of the stars who have dined there. This includes Greta Garbo, Rudolph Valentino, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor, Jimmy Stewart, and Marilyn Monroe, and the list goes on.

The Petersen Automotive Museum & Vault

The Petersen Automotive Museum & Vault

6060 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036

Just go. Everything inside and out is absolutely fantastic. As you may or may not know, Jon and Jessie are total gear-heads. Bring a bib for all the drool.

Museum of Death

6031 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Our second (unofficial) date location. If you know Jessie, you know.

Boneyard Bistro

13539 Ventura Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 91423

Our first (unofficial) date spot.

California Science Center

California Science Center

700 Exposition Park Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90037

It's FREE!! We love science. Check out the space shuttle Endeavor, the high wire bike, their massive Imax theater and hands-on kid stuff.

The Broad

The Broad

221 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012
, (213) 232-6250

We frequent this fun art museum. Lots of great places to walk to downtown as well. This museum sits on one of the streets car companies shoot a lot of their commercials on, vroom vroom. We recommend the Infinity Room! And we went here with our great and longtime friend, Sinan.

Clifton's Republic Cafeteria

Clifton's Republic Cafeteria

648 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90014
, (213) 613-0000

This is an amazing dinner/bar location downtown, with a 3 story fake tree spanning the building, a different themed bar on each floor, taxidermy up the wazoo and an amazing, secret tiki bar through a mirror somewhere on the 3rd floor. HIGHLY recommended.

The Museum of Jurassic Technology

The Museum of Jurassic Technology

9341 Venice Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90232
, (310) 836-6131

Now, I've seen some weird stuff in my life, but this museum takes the cake. An unassuming shop front in Culver City houses a massively deep museum of stuff you would never know to think about. Or seek out. Truly bizarre and beautiful. They also have a theater and tea room, yay!

Bob Baker Marionette Theater

Bob Baker Marionette Theater

4949 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042

Though the shows cater to a mostly young audience, many adults have referred to the performances as “psychedelic.” The dizzying colors and interactive experience have given the theater a reputation for non-linear, off-beat performances. Indeed, the theater is known to weave disco scenes into the Nutcracker, and incorporates many sci-fi alien themes into his Halloween Spooktacular.

Highland Park Bowl

Highland Park Bowl

5621 N Figueroa St., Los Angeles, 90042

Located near Jessie and Jon is the oldest bowling alley in Los Angeles. When it first opened in 1927 during Prohibition, Highland Park Bowl was one of the few speakeasies that also had a bowling alley in it. The upstairs floor of the building housed doctor’s offices where patrons could get a prescription for “medicinal” whiskey that could then be filled and enjoyed in the lanes below. It just got a renovation and is absolutely amazing inside. Grab a lane or just drinks and bar food and take in the sights.
