Jon was from New Jersey; Edward from Florida. Both enjoyed doing cosplay with friends. While Jon was still up north, he was introduced to Edward via instagram. Edward was live-streaming in a Walmart, shopping for things dressed as the Riddler. After that, they started talking almost everyday. They started doing character live-streams with friends as Scarecrow and Riddler. However, Jon had medical issues that became concerning to everyone. Edward was going through tough times at his own home too. They each refused to let their circumstances get the better of them, and they planned to meet up. In May 2018, Ed flew up to Newark N.J. They spent the time exploring the city and the Liberty Science Center (in cosplay!), and making a trip for Ed's first time to New York City. When the time came for Ed to return home, they were each heartbroken. Eventually, Jon moved to Florida where he can be away from the cold and be with Edward. It was during May 2018" A day that will always be remembered, and they have been inseparable since.

Jonathan, Edward, and Josh and Jeannie Barber met for lunch and then went to see the new Downton Abbey movie. Attempt 1: After lunch, there was still an hour before the movie. Jon said maybe they could all go to a park just next door for a while. However, it was over 100 that day, and Ed said it was too hot. Jeannie agreed with Ed (whoops!). Ed, who had no idea that this was for a proposal by a cute lake with ducks and not for sitting for an hour, suggested finding an air conditioned place to hang out for a while. Attempt 2? : They all went and looked around Gamestop for a bit. Jon refused to propose in a Gamestop (rightfully so). Attempt 2: With twenty minutes before the movie, Jon suggested getting ice cream next to the movie theater. Ed, who is perpetually OCD about finding his seat and getting drinks and snacks before the trailers, said they couldn’t finish ice cream in time and maybe everyone could get ice cream afterward. Josh looked at Jon and shrugged. Attempt 3? The movie theater floor by the snacks was gross and there was no way Jon was going to do it there. Attempt 3: By this point, Jon told Josh that apparently he may not get to propose today. Before the movie, Ed was talking like he often does, and still had no clue. Jon said “Edward!!” and when Ed turned around, Jon had a little box and asked if Ed would marry him. And Ed said oh my god yes. To which Jon recounted the events of the day and Ed really had had no idea the entire day. And then everyone watched Downton Abbey. Dame Maggie Smith is amazing.
