Jon and Deanna’s story began on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, brought together by mutual friends, and a sense that their paths were always meant to cross. Jon had been living in Hawaiʻi for nearly ten years, where he built a life rooted in island living and later graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi. Deanna’s connection to Hawaiʻi ran even deeper. She had been coming to the islands regularly since she was just five years old, visiting her dad who lives on the west side of Oʻahu. Over the years, Hawaiʻi became her second home, and she went on to graduate from the University of Hawaiʻi as well. What started as a simple introduction quickly turned into an effortless friendship. Before they even realized it, Jon and Deanna were spending nearly every day together, sharing meals, long conversations, and plenty of laughter. One of Jon’s best friends and groomsmen, Deivy, may or may not have helped nudge things along before either of them caught on. As time went on, their connection deepened into something undeniable. Their days were filled with Maoli and reggae concerts, discovering the best local spots, especially Korean BBQ, and quiet moments at their special place on the east side at Waimānalo Beach, where everything always felt calm, happy, and just right. Late nights often ended at Oso’s, a local favorite with amazing sushi and a crane machine Deanna loved to play. Surrounded by music, friends, and island life, it became clear they had found their person in each other. Together, they explored more than just Hawaiʻi. They traveled to the places that shaped Deanna and made their way to Florida so Deanna could meet Jon’s family, weaving their lives together one meaningful journey at a time. That love came full circle in September 2025 on the east side of Oʻahu, when Jon proposed to Deanna at the botanical gardens, surrounded by their closest friends and her dad, making the moment even more meaningful. It was intimate, intentional, and filled with so much love, perfectly them. From friendship to forever, Jon and Deanna’s story is rooted in Hawaiʻi, guided by God and love, and grounded in the feeling of home they found in each other.
