They say that happy marriages are based on a deep friendship. Well Jonathan and Cat are sure to be happy in their marriage. Jonathan and Cat met in 2009 during their Freshman year of college and remained best friends over the next 8 years before they finally began dating in 2017 - a true testament to the importance of persistence. They spent the first two years of their relationship long distance while Jonathan worked toward his MBA in Chicago. While the distance was difficult, the two made the most of this time and looked at each visit as a new travel adventure - they explored and ate their way through Chicago, Boston, Denver, Nashville, etc. After graduation, Jonathan moved back to Boston to be with Cat, making the City of Champions their home base, while still continuing the travel that became the foundation of their relationship during those two long years.

True to form, the two had planned an anniversary trip to the west coast. A road trip from San Francisco, CA to Portland, OR, hiking, camping, and visiting vineyards along the way. Little did she know though he had everything planned - a proposal at the base of Mt. Hood, OR to incorporate a place dear to her heart into their forever story, a photographer to capture the moment and recreate a beloved 'Sunrise over Mt. Hood' poster she purchased as a kid, and the perfect ring in his backpack - but you know what they say about best laid plans... Their proposal was still everything they imagined and she said yes to her best friend, wearing a ring lovingly made out of a vine, while a man in flippers and waders took photos with his finger in the frame. Extenuating circumstances and changed plans couldn't tarnish the engagement or diminish how happy they felt and the meaning of the day.
