How We Met

St. Patricks Day before Covid Shutdown

Audra and Jonathan’s story started on St. Patrick’s Day 2019—the day before the world shut down for Covid. Audra was living with one of Jonathan’s friends, and they were hosting a breakfast party. What Audra didn’t know at the time was that Jonathan had already asked her roommate to set them up… only to be told by her, “I don’t think you two would be good together.” Fast-forward four years. Jonathan was on his way to an Aggie game in Tennessee when he suddenly received an Instagram DM—from the girl he had been low-key stalking for six months. Audra messaged, “I’m going to Nashville next week—do you have any recommendations?” Jonathan took this as his golden opportunity to finally flirt. He loved how adventurous Audra was, so he asked if he could tag along on one of her future trips. Audra replied, “You’d have to be vetted first and sent a 10-question questionnaire.” Without missing a beat, Jonathan shot back, “What number do I send my application to?” And just like that, the conversation never stopped. Their first meetup was at Audra’s rock-climbing gym. Things went so well that Audra invited him to dinner right afterward. They ended up talking for hours—even though Jonathan began with, “I’m not really an open book,” and then proceeded to spill his entire life story. Date two was a deep-dive into religion and politics. Later, they admitted they both thought the other was lying—because they agreed on so many things it felt almost suspicious. By date three, Audra laid out her big news: she planned to move to Colorado in six months when her lease ended. If he wasn’t open to that, they shouldn’t keep seeing each other. To her shock, Jonathan had already been considering a move to Colorado the year before. Another coincidence that felt almost too good to be true. In the end, they discovered they shared not only values and dreams, but the same love for adventure, fun, and connection. And even though it took Jonathan more than two years to finally admit it… they truly are each other’s best friends.
