Jonathan and I met in the fall of our sophomore year at UNR. It is incredible how similar our story is to my own parents... it all started in the library. When I ran into him while studying for finals, there was absolutely no way of knowing that we would now be choosing to spend forever together. Our first date was at Old World Coffee in Reno, and Johnny told me all about his hobbies, such as backpacking and hiking. I was excited to tell him how much I loved the outdoors and camping too! Little did I know just how different our definitions of what qualifies as "camping" would be. His idea of camping involves holes and heavy packs where I am known to enjoy a tent trailer. When Johnny invited me on a walk for our second date and I was 5 miles in and pouring sweat; I should have known. At the end of the date Jonathan, ever the gentleman, dropped me off at home and I leaned in for our first kiss... only to be greeted with a fist bump. The rest of our lives jumpstarted from there. From my first backpacking trip, where I was left to fend off chipmunks and filter water, to me commandeering a beachgoer's paddleboard to rescue Jonathan from the water at Sand Harbor, there has certainly never been a dull moment. When we both survived a trip to Hawaii with a small group of 22 members of my extended family (love you guys!), I knew we could survive anything. We are so excited to celebrate with everyone who is able to attend. I know that the next chapter of our lives is truly just beginning!!
