Like all good love stories, this one began in an ice cream shop. Aleksandra and Jonathan first met while working at Cosmic Creamery. Aleksandra said that it was love at first sight, and there may or may not be videographic proof of that. Aleksandra was finishing her freshman year at Belmont University, while Jonathan was a graduating senior headed to Knoxville for law school. Although both were friends, their lives seemed to be headed in different directions. Fast forward to March of 2020, the world was shutting down and Aleksandra flew to Nashville to collect her belongings that were left at Belmont. Jonathan was still in Knoxville, surviving his first year of law school. Knowing that Knoxville was on the route back to New York, Aleksandra and Jonathan planned to meet and get a quick cup of coffee before Aleksandra continued her drive. Fate had other plans - namely, two stray puppies which were given the names Willie and Dolly. Coming across these two puppies while leaving Nashville, Aleksandra had no choice but to find them a safe place to stay. After being turned away at two separate shelters, the two puppies were finally taken in by the fine staff of the Nashville Humane Society. Once Willie and Dolly were safe, Aleksandra headed to Knoxville. Arriving much later than originally expected, the two decided to get dinner in downtown Knoxville. Dinner turned into hours of conversation, and the two reconnected. But, Aleksandra still had to continue on to New York, and Jonathan had to finish up his 1L spring semester. They didn’t forget about each other, though. On Jonthan’s 23rd birthday, Aleksandra made sure to send him a card in the mail. With the world going crazy in April of 2020, while everyone was keeping their distance from each other, this card meant more to Jonathan than Aleksandra probably expected. A few months later, Aleksandra moved back to Nashville to live with her good friend Jannah. Needing an excuse to see Aleksandra again, Jonathan insisted on driving to Nashville to help assemble furniture for her new apartment. This time, those friendly conversations started to feel a little different. Between walks through Sylvan Park talking about how many steps constitute the “perfect” front porch, or evenings spent looking at the moon and stars, both knew that this time, things were different. The two decided to give dating a shot - and quickly realized that they were perfect for each other. They made it official on July 6, 2020, and well - you know the rest.
