Jon and Yashna met in January 2022 in the winter of her intern year of residency at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. Their first date took place in the Cherry Circle Room at the Chicago Athletic Association, which is a night they’ll never forget. Jon then left the States 48 hours later for what was thought to be a two-week long vacation to Mexico with friends, which was unexpectedly extended to three weeks after a bout of Covid while traveling. Fortunately, he recovered in time to sweep her off her feet for an incredible second date over Valentine’s Day weekend, and the rest was history! He had her heart as soon as he mentioned that his ideal day off included sleeping in, making a good breakfast, visiting the Shedd Aquarium, and finding a cozy bar to read in. She let him know early on that what she was really looking for was a personal chef, and Jon has risen above and beyond this challenge. They've enjoyed cooking together over the years and taking every opportunity to explore new places from their bucket list -- from learning to cook paella in Barcelona to going on safari in Tanzania to touring incredible wineries and visiting Yashna's extended family in South Africa. Jon has also shared his love of Mexico with Yashna, and they've made a pact to return every January to escape the thick of Chicago's winters. Throughout the years, they have loved exploring the city together and steadily making their way through the incredible food scene in Chicago. On sunny afternoons, they can often be found at their favorite patios within the city with their sweet pup, Olivia.
