Jon and Wendy found each other online (thank you, OkCupid) and met up for dinner the next night. Wendy wasn't feeling very hopeful about this date; she sat re-reading his profile at the outdoor table while waiting for him to arrive. (Yes, he was late. He blamed the Hoboken parking situation and his broken foot. Excuses, excuses.) She thought his pics weren't that great and his story was kind of snarky; but she was already there and he was, apparently, finally parking. She decided to tell him she had plans with friends in an hour. Finally, he came up the sidewalk behind her, clickety-clack on his crutches. Wendy braced herself for someone who looked even less attractive than his pics, as seemed to always happen on these dates. He arrived at the restaurant, turned to face her, and BAM there he was - steely blue eyes and a winning smile. They talked and laughed for three hours, Wendy forgetting all about her imaginary "date with friends." She walked him to his car, Jon kissed her next to a lamp post; he asked to see her again the next day. Three years later, here we are.
Jon asked Wendy to marry him outside the Casa de la Música in Trinidad, Cuba, on a warm beautiful evening under a flowering tree surrounded by live salsa music. He said beautiful things that won't be listed here, but perhaps you will hear them in his vows - who knows?
